Born in the Shadow of the Divide.
A Legacy of Exploration
Summit & Stream wasn't founded in a boardroom; it was forged around a campfire in Jasper National Park in 1998. Our founders, a pair of backcountry guides frustrated by gear that couldn't survive a single season, decided to build their own.
What started as custom canvas packs sewn in a garage has evolved into a comprehensive outfitting operation, but our core directive remains identical: build it to survive.
We believe that nature is not an adversary to be conquered, but a profoundly powerful environment that demands respect, preparation, and the right equipment.
The Guiding Principles
01. Absolute Reliability
We source materials that laugh in the face of abrasion and weather. From military-grade Cordura to ripstop nylon with hydrostatic heads exceeding 10,000mm.
02. Environmental Stewardship
The wilderness is our home. We are transitioning to 100% PFC-free DWR coatings, using recycled down, and our repair program ensures gear stays on the mountain, not in a landfill.
03. Field-Tested Design
No product goes into production without 500 hours of real-world testing. We give prototypes to trail crews, alpine climbers, and canoe guides to find the breaking points.
